Battery tray, fuel servo angle adapter | 12.6.2020 - 12.7.2020
So the factory battery tray is basically a flat spot in the nose once installed. I think the factory may supply something to go on this tray, but my second hand kit didn't have anything, and it probably wouldn't have fit the specific battery model that I'm using anyway.
This is the solution that I came up with for a lightweight install that should be simple and expandable for a bigger or smaller battery if I ever change away from this one. It basically consists of 3 pieces of angle aluminum and two pieces of (scrap) flat stock aluminum that I had laying around.

One of the long pieces of aluminum will get structurally adhered and riveted to the bottom of the battery tray lip that's closest to the gear well. Two pieces of flat stock were adhered and riveted to the aft-most side of the tray.
Once those were allowed to cure overnight, I completed the install with two more pieces of angle aluminum. One long piece was installed on the "rear" of the battery, and a short one on the side opposite the flat stock. Both of these were drilled through the fiberglass tray and installed with AN3 bolts. These two pieces can be moved and the fiberglass re-drilled in a new spot if the dimensions of our battery ever change.
We still need to install a strap of some sort to prevent vertical movement of the battery, we're still trying to figure out the best way to do that. |
After that, I installed the right angle fuel servo adapter to the engine and fabricated a line to connect the fuel servo to the fuel flow divider on top of the engine. Basically cut the line to length, clean it up, and then spread the stainless jacket to make room for the compression fitting. Tighten everything down and you have a new, custom length hose. Pretty easy.
This is the fire-sleeve that goes over the line to protect the fuel within from a fire if one ever occurred. |

Thanks for stopping by. Still making good progress, just one little thing at a time.
